Aquastream works with healthcare facilities across Australia providing effective water purification solutions for managing the risks of bacteria including legionella and pseudomonas.

Point-of-use (POU) filtration solutions for showers and basin taps are used to provide a guaranteed source of sterile water, free from legionella, pseudomonas and other bacterial contaminants.

What is legionella?

Legionella are small gram-negative bacteria which can be found in water, in host organisms and adhering to the surface of pipes and other plumbing infrastructure.

Infection by Legionella occurs following inhalation or aspiration of aerosol droplets containing Legionella bacteria often generated by clinical devices and plumbing outlets such as showers and basin taps.

What is pseudomonas?

Pseudomonas is a type of bacteria that is found commonly in the environment and can often be found within hospital water reticulation systems.

Many facilities have large reticulations systems which lead to low free chlorine levels in many water outlets and especially low use areas.

Pseudomonsas can effectively be controlled by sub-micron filtration or ultraviolet (UV) disinfection treatment.
